Thirteen people were fined for violating Covid-19 safety measures while playing cricket in Sharjah.

The violators were found to be playing cricket in unlicensed sandy squares in Sharjah and flouted precautionary measures related to Covid-19.

An official from the Sharjah Police said that special patrolling teams have been formed to carry out inspection drives targeting individuals who are violating Covid-19 measures and putting other members of society at risk of the raging contagion.

He stressed that the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah would continue with the inspection drives to monitor whether individuals are taking precautionary measures.

The authorities will take deterrent legal measures against the violators.

He urged the public to adhere to the precautionary measures, and to report any violation by commercial establishments or individuals by calling the call centre at 901, or avail the "Haris" service of the Sharjah Police, or send a mail to covid19@shjpolice.gov.ae
