KUWAIT CITY - Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al- Rawdan has issued a decision to reduce patent registration fees of Kuwait National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development as part of the ministry’s strategy to support small and medium enterprises and to create opportunities for Kuwaiti youths to facilitate commercial activities, reports Al-Anba daily.

The decision sets patent application fees for individuals at KD 140 and KD 280 for companies, while fees for publication of individual patents will be KD 175 and KD 350 for companies.

It also covers the annual fee of patents from year 2 to 20, which has been increased by KD 5 for individuals and KD 10 for companies, indicating an individual registering a patent in its second year will spend KD 140 and KD 230 in the 20th year, while companies will pay KD 280 and KD 460 in the second year and 20th year respectively.
