AMMAN — The Kingdom's trade balance with the US registered a surplus until the end of May of this year, reaching about JD142 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

According to the Department of Statistic’s (DoS) monthly report, the value of national exports to the US until the end of May 2021 increased by 17 per cent, to reach JD535.6 million, compared with the same period last year, which amounted to JD454.9 million.

The Kingdom's imports from the US increased by 0.2 per cent towards the end of May 2021, reaching JD393.2 million, compared with the same period last year, which amounted to JD385.5 million.

The trade balance represents the difference between the value of imports and exports, and it is considered one of the important economic indicators, and one of the inputs to the GDP of countries, Petra reported.
