ALGIERS- Algeria's annual inflation fell to 4 percent in April from 4.1 percent the previous month, due to lower prices for some foodstuffs, official data showed on Tuesday.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index was relatively stagnant in April, the National Statistics Bureau said.

Prices for fish and potatoes declined 4.9 percent and 6.1 percent respectively, while the cost of poultry and vegetables rose 2.6 percent and 3.13 percent.

Algeria has imposed import restrictions on some goods including foodstuffs in an attempt to cut spending due to lower energy earnings in the recent years.
