UAE - Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, on Sunday announced that it has awarded contracts valued at over AED 100 million to extend its cooling service pipeline network at Dubai Production City (DPC).

Under the contracts, Empower’s network will be extended with a length of about 10 kilometres to link the various plants at the DPC as part of the company’s strategy to upgrade its infrastructure using advanced technologies to ensure customer satisfaction, according to a press release.

The project comprises two network extensions to inter-connect 7 semi-permanent plants, Empower said, indicating that the network, which serves DPC, is set for completion by the first quarter of 2020.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “At Empower, we are committed to developing our infrastructure and using the latest chillers technology at Dubai Production City, to maximize cooling and achieve the objectives of the Dubai Plan 2021, where infrastructure is one of its major pillars.”

“As the years go by, Empower continues to develop its Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, contributing to the efficiency of the cooling sector and providing an easier experience for countries and companies looking to implement district cooling systems,” Bin Shafar added.

He further noted that the plants are constructed in accordance with international standards with the aim to achieve internationally recognised certifications for design, construction, and operation of eco-friendly and high-performance buildings.

Empower cater district cooling services to more than 100,000 customers across over 1,090 buildings, operating more than 1.43 million refrigeration tons (RT) and offering eco-friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments.
