UAE -  Nutridor, a dairy company of TGI Group offering milk products including its flagship brand Abevia, is looking to expand to other GCC countries and set up a production facility in the near to medium term, said an official.

Managing director Sankha Biswas said the company has been operating in the UAE for the past 12 months, trying to understand consumer needs.

"In the past 12 months, we have been constantly trying to understand what is the gap in evaporated and sweet condensed milk and can accordingly design consumer products," he said.

"Our DNA is manufacturing and production. We have partners in strategic countries. So when we start something, we always hold hand with the strategic partners and build brand and products and then back up with the supply chain capability like manufacturing. As far as the UAE plan is concerned, there is something on the table. We are a new brand in the market but we have taken substantial awareness. Consumers like our products, so sooner or later there will be manufacturing facility in the near to medium term in the region."

While speaking during Gulfood 2021 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, he said the company is looking to expand beyond the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to other regional countries as well. He noted that the consumers are increasingly looking for healthy products.

"But when you bring healthy products, the people's perception is that it is not affordable. We are trying to bridge this gap in the consumer's mind that health and affordability can go together."

Biswas sees the GCC food and beverage market led by health products. "We are not talking about pharmaceutical products but products that add value to consumers health, for example, low-cholesterol products."
