Amman, Dec. 12 (Petra) -- Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Lina Annab, on Monday, said the sales tax law on tourism offices doesn't impose any new taxes on tourism companies, noting that the law will be applied on the outbound tourism and not on local tourism.

The minister noted that the sales tax will be collected from the companies as of December 15 after agreeing with the tourism sector on its mechanism to enhance the sector's competitiveness.

She pointed out that the decision comes in implementation of the law, stressing that tourism is a top priority for the government, which has taken a series of measures to stimulate the tourist sector. These include reducing the electricity tariff for tourist establishments and cancelling the special tax on charter flights.
