“Indian utility vendors and services will find a huge market and scope in Africa, especially in West Africa’s energy sector” says Dr. Rajeev Singh, the Director General and CEO of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The ICC represents India as the featured country partner at the upcoming Future Energy Nigeria, hosting a pavilion of almost 50 suppliers of specialised technology and services for the energy sector.
 
Future Energy Nigeria will once again host many of the country’s leading energy decision makers in the power value chain from 7-8 November 2017 at the Eko Hotel & Suite Convention Centre in Lagos.

As the country partner at Future Energy Nigeria Dr Singh says “the primary objective of the ICC is to connect over 1800 C-level industry professionals across the full spectrum of the sector to address today’s challenges and implement tomorrow’s solutions.”
 
He says visitors to the Indian pavilion will be able to “interact and network directly with Indian vendors who have specialized in the energy sector. Visitors can also see the products and services covering generation, transmission & distribution, metering, renewables and new technologies. Visitors can furthermore establish distribution channels.”
 
Vibrant entrepreneurial culture
Asked what Nigerians can learn from the experience of the Indian utility sector, the ICC CEO says: “energy is one of the major drivers of a growing economy such as India and Nigeria. I believe that Nigerians can follow the same given India’s vibrant entrepreneurial culture, history of technology innovation and the vast domestic market, the country is ideally positioned to capitalize on the advantages that renewable energy has to offer. Although renewable energy technologies currently represent a fraction of the energy market in India, they have tremendous potential to undergo rapid growth and provide an alternative solution to fossil fuels.”

Founded in 1925, the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is the leading and only National Chamber of Commerce operating from Kolkata, and one of the most pro-active and forward-looking chambers in the country today. Its membership spans some of the most prominent and major industrial groups in India.

Sector’s challenges and successes
Future Energy Nigeria enjoys the support of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, distribution companies and prominent generation companies.

The conference and exhibition is recognised as being a distinctive gathering of stakeholders in the sector which includes governments, power generation companies, transmission and distribution companies, off takers, developers, investors, equipment manufacturers and providers, technology providers, EPCs, legal and consulting firms all with a shared goal of supporting the on-going implementation of finding lasting solutions to Nigeria’s energy challenges.

The fourth edition of the hugely successful Future Energy Nigeria Industry Awards also takes place during the event. The glamorous gala dinner brings together 150 of Nigeria’s most renowned power professionals to recognise and celebrate the leading industry pioneers and projects in five different categories. The Energy Reporter of the Year is a new award category this year.
