MANAMA: Despite the difficult circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic and economic recession in most countries across the world, the volume of trade exchange between Bahrain and Italy has reached BD196.3 million (442.5m euros) until September this year, a 43.4 per cent increase compared with the same period last year, said Italian Ambassador Paula Amadi.

“Bahrain and Italy signed in February a deal on exemption of visa requirements for holders of specific types of passports, which will take effect once the required procedures are finalised,” she told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.

The last visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to Italy has opened up new prospects of co-operation between the two countries in various fields, she said.

“Bahrain and Italy signed several joint agreements,” she noted, stressing keenness of major Italian companies to invest in the kingdom given its favourable business environment and ready infrastructure.

Bahrain issued 18,422 tourist visas to Bahrainis from 2017 to date, she pointed out.
