Manama, Bahrain: Ebdaa Bank Bahrain for micro-financing announces that the Chief Executive of Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) has becomes a member of the Edbaa Bank board of directors for the remainder of its current session.

BDB Chief Executive, Mr. Sanjeev Paul, is the successor of Mrs. Dalal Ismail, who was a BDB representative in the board for over five years.

Ebdaa Bank Bahrain Chairwoman, Mona Yousif Almoayyed, welcomed Mr. Paul, who has over 30 years of experience in the banking sector around the world.

“The membership will contribute to enhancing co-operation between the banks, both of which work to provide affordable loans for start-up projects and to support the national economy,” said Ms. Almoayyed.

Mr Paul’s presence in the board will allow him the opportunity of being closely introduced to the best practices in micro-financing, while associating them with the 17 sustainable development goals that are adopted by the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) through its banks existing in nine Arab and African countries.

“It will also help him adopt concepts of development in banking during his service as BDB chief executive,” she said.

In the same context, Ms. Almoayyed said Ebdaa Bank is keen to co-ordinate with BDB through Mr. Paul. “This is specially to transfer Ebdaa Bank’s clients who expand their projects, and require loans that are higher than the bank loans’ ceiling of BD5000, to BDB,” she stated.

Ebdaa Bank’s directors board, chaired by Ms. Al Moayyed, includes the membership of AGFUND Chief Executive, Nasser Baker Al Qahtani, as the board vice-chairman, Samar Wissa Agaiby, from Eskan Bank Bahrain, Abdul Hameed Diwani as a representative of the private sector, Adel Mohamed Bela as a representative of AGFUND’s banks and Dr. Badruddin Abdul Rahim as an independent member.
