Tunisia – Minister of Transport Riadh Ayara said that the government has created a structure to be tasked with selecting a bank to accelerate the completion of the project of the deep-water port in Enfidha, whose achievement has been blocked since the decision of its creation, in 2010.

During a plenary session devoted on Monday, to the draft budget of the Ministry of Transport, Ayara pointed out that 15 boats serve Tunisia including 6 ships of the Tunisian Navigation Company (CTN), adding that the government contribution to the national economy increase from 11% to 18%, by 2020.

He stressed that the development of new docks worth 40 Million Dinars (MD), the acquisition of new mooring equipment and port security equipment, in addition to the rental of a boat that will provide transportation on Marseille line, during the 2018 season are scheduled.

He specified that 53 MD were mobilised for the development and the restructuring of the Société tunisienne d'acconage et de manutention (STAM), during the period 2017/2018, in addition to the execution of a programme of reorganisation concerning the departure of 293 employees.

Ayara said that the action of his department will focus on public transit, the renewal of the park, the implementation of regional strategies and the identification of funding for public transport.
