UAE - A groom, his father and the father of the bride were referred to the emergencies, crises and disasters prosecution after they were found to be organising and celebrating a wedding in violation of prescribed rules to stymie the Covid-19 spread.

Legal action was also taken against all the guests who attended and took part in the function.

The Abu Dhabi Police moved to a house where a wedding was being held in spite of the rules banning group gatherings and celebrations.

A Dh10,000 fine is imposed on anyone who organises, holds or invites others to a gathering or group celebration.

A Dh5,000 penalty is slapped on any individual who attends such gatherings.

The police urged the public to strictly adhere to social distancing and avoid family gatherings, while complying with anti-Covid measures.

The police called on the public to cooperate by reporting gatherings and violations of the restrictions rules by calling the toll-free number 8002626, or texting to 2828 or e-mailing to Aman@adpolice.gov.ae for the safety of all the members of the society.
