Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Cabinet on Wednesday approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the housing ministry and Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power.

The protocol will allow for the conduction of studies for desalination projects using renewable energy, the Cabinet said in a statement.

The agreement came in line with the government’s plan to involve the private sector in desalination projects.

In October 2019, the Egyptian government signed $200 million

agreement with

ACWA Power for the purchase of energy to purchase energy to generate electricity from solar power under the build-own-operate system in Aswan’s Kom Ombo town.
