Construction work on a multi-million-dinar health centre in the Southern Governorate is on schedule, it has emerged.

The BD5,646,666 project on a 17,244sqm plot of land in Khalifa Town will be completed within 18 months.

Work on the Khalifa Town Health Centre started early this year and building foundation columns are currently being constructed, revealed Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s projects and maintenance assistant under-secretary Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa yesterday.

“The contractor is working at a good pace in order to complete the construction in the specified period of 18 months,” he said.

“The health centre is being built on a 17,244sqm plot of land with the building occupying approximately 11,765sqm.

“The centre, which consists of 12 clinics for doctors, also includes six dental clinics, a pharmacy, a radiology department, an emergency department, a physiotherapy department, as well as a child and maternal care unit and a health records and reception section.”

The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Health Ministry to ensure excellent health services are provided to citizens in line with the continuous population growth.

Shaikh Mishal also highlighted that the highest engineering standards were taken into account in the building design as well as green building requirements and sustainability specifications such as the energy consumption rationalisation policy to preserve the environment and natural resources.

The multi-million dinar project is funded by the National Bank of Bahrain and the tender was awarded to Arados Contracting and Maintenance.
