A total of 763 citizens benefited from the Mazaya housing programme during the first half of the year, said Housing Minister Bassem Al Hamer.

“The scheme is part of efforts to deliver 25,000 housing units under the Government Action Plan,” he said, affirming the success of the government’s vision on involving the private sector in providing affordable social housing for the citizens.

He indicated that the statistics show an increase in the number of Mazaya beneficiaries every year, noting that their annual number increased from 773 in 2014-2015 to 1,358 in 2019, “which reflects the remarkable increasing demand for the programme.

The minister said that BD837 million has been spent on real estate, financing, contracting, engineering consultancy and retail sectors.
