Dubai, U.A.E: - Middlesex University Dubai is delighted to announce that it will be hosting The International Conference on Intelligent Environments 2021 (IE2021).
Now in its seventeenth year, the four-day conference, set to be held from June 21 to 24, unites the worlds of sensing, networking, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, software engineering, context-awareness, pervasive and ubiquitous computing and many more diverse areas. Encouraging intelligent discussions, collaborations and exchanges, the conference has been held in numerous fascinating destinations across the globe and this year, Middlesex University Dubai is delighted to be given the honour of hosting it here in the UAE.
A truly international forum, the conference welcomes contributions from across the realm of intelligent environments, or physical spaces where information, communication and sensing technologies are combined with the aim of enhancing and improving the lives of the environment’s inhabitants and users.
In keeping with tradition, the conference will once again host three excellent keynote speakers. Firstly, Edward A. Lee, Robert S. Pepper Distinguished Professor Emeritus at UC Berkeley, will address the subject of ‘The Coevolution of Humans and Machines’, while Bharathan Balaji, Research Scientist at Amazon, will explore the exciting topic of ‘Sustainable Buildings’. Finally, Aiham Alakhras, Vice President at Gartner, has prepared an exciting session entitled ‘The next generation: A challenge and an opportunity for Smart Cities’. All three promise to be utterly fascinating, enlightening and exceptionally useful.
Speaking about the decision to take the entire event online for IE2021, the Honorary Programme Chair and Head of Computer Engineering and Informatics at Middlesex University Dubai, Dr Fehmida Hussain, said: “Keeping everyone's health and safety in mind given the current COVID-19 situation, the decision has been made to move the IE2021 conference to a completely digital experience.
“While it would have been fantastic to host an in-person conference in Dubai, this decision also brings about exciting changes to the conference experience and provides the possibility of including more events unique to the online format. We look forward to welcoming you all online in June 2021.”
