Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured 21 companies for their corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts during a recognition ceremony held at its premises on Wednesday.
The Dubai Chamber CSR Label was presented to Centena Group, DC Pro Engineering, NMC Speciality Hospital, Dar Al Tawreeq Forfaiting and Factoring Services for the first time while Dimara International, Index Holding, Time Hotels, and Tristar Transport received it for the second time.
Dubai Drydocks, Global Village, Horeca Trade and Veolia Oman achieved it for the third time, while Apparel Group, Enova, HSBC Middle East, Six Construct and Union Cooperative Society received it for the fourth time. Alpen Capital and Axiom Telecom were awarded for the fifth time running and Emirates Gas for the sixth time since the inception of the CSR Label five years ago.
Congratulating the honourees for their achievement, H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber, urged them to continue the good work and inspire other like-minded organisations in their journey to leverage CSR and sustainability in the long run.
“Over the last five years, the impressive success of the CSR Label has resulted in a great interest from the UAE business community which expressed need to further develop and advance our programmes to serve them better.
“Looking into the future, we are confident that we have created a strong infrastructure to build on which will allow us to continue leveraging our expertise in CSR and sustainability,” said H.E. Al Ghurair.
“Today, we are delighted to be rewarding 21 companies, which is the largest number of companies being honoured at one presentation ceremony. Since its launch in 2010, 219 CSR Labels were awarded to companies which shows the rising interest of the business community in applying CSR best practices in their work environment and get rewarded,” he added.
On their part, the honourees lauded the role of Dubai Chamber in providing them with a framework to define and improve their corporate social responsibility performance as well as the opportunity to promote their activities, and to enhance their reputation as leaders in achieving sustainability.
Since its launch, the Dubai Chamber CSR Label has served as a diagnostic framework and a CSR and sustainability management tool for the participating companies to gauge their approach to CSR best practices while discovering the strengths and weaknesses in their management process’ effects on the environment and the community.
The CSR Label is open to all organisations, private or public, regardless of their size, sector or operations and can make a major difference to a company’s reputation, efficiency and productivity and its success depends on how the CSR objectives are set and communicated to all of their stakeholders.
