Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: Mohamed Hassan Al Sabab, Acting Director General of RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry stressed that the economic diversification that characterized the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, has significantly contributed to the economic performance stability during the COVID-19 outbreak this year; this is evident in the exports’ volume of the members of Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to over 153 countries across the world different continents, which reached 3 billion and 671 million dirhams during the first nine months of 2020.
Al Sabab added that the exported goods by the Chamber’s members were distributed across 19 sections of goods according to the harmonized system, on the top of which came the electric devices and spare-parts with 20% of the total exports, amounted to 732 million dirhams including nuclear reactors, boilers and devices which reached 212 million dirhams, while the chemical industries and the associated industries reached 485 million dirhams with 13.2% of the total, topped by pharmaceutical products amounted to 169 million dirhams, followed by normal metals and products thereof which reached 476 million dirhams, with 13%, while the section of iron or steel products topped the rest of sections of this category with 363 million dirham, followed by plant products group with 11% amounted to 403 million dirhams, topped by the exports of coffee, tea, spices and seasonings with exports amounted to 303 million dirhams, followed by transport equipment section representing 10.8%, with 395 million dirhams including the transport vehicles and accessories with 257 million dirhams, followed by metal products with 8.3%, with exports reached 305 million dirhams. Products of stone or glass plaster and articles thereof with 269 million dirhams, representing 7.3%, followed by plastic and its products, rubber and products thereof amounted 218 million dirhams, with 6%, followed by food and beverage amounted to 175 million dirhams, with 5% and the rest of the goods with different rates.
Eman Al Hayas, Assistant Director General of the Commercial Services and Business Development Sector, Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that the exports of the members of Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce has been distributed across the different sections of the different goods, and according to the number of Certificates of origin which represent the number of the concluded deals for each section of goods, for instance, the chemical industries section or associated products came on the top of the rest goods with 3,346 certificates, representing 18% of the total, while the products of stone and gypsum products or ceramics, stone and articles thereof ranked third with 2,892 certificate representing 15%, and the normal metal section of goods with 2,639 certificates which contributed with 14% of the total industrial exports; followed by electric equipment, devices and accessories thereof, totaled 2,378 certificates with 13%. followed by plastic and its products, rubber and products thereof with 1,885 certificates with 10%, followed by the plant products with 1,756 certificates, with 9%, and the rest of the sections of goods amounted to 19 sections with different percentages.
Al Hayas added that the GCC states lead the rest of the countries in terms of the goods value exported by the members of the Chamber, as it acquired 37% of the total exports which is amounted to billion and 356 million dirhams, while the non-Arabic Asian countries followed with 20% and value of exports amounted to 730 million dirhams, and the reset Arab countries group with exports amounted to 661 million dirhams, representing 18%, the European countries with exports amounted to 343 million dirhams with 10%, and the African non-Arab countries with 9% amounted to 623 million dirhams, the American countries group with 5%, and finally the ocean countries and others with 1%.
She added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia topped the rest of the countries, in terms of the number of certificates of origin (deals), amounted to 3,208 certificates for which the goods of 582 million dirhams have been exported, and the Sultanate of Oman came second with the number of certificates reached 1,429, with good value of 145 million dirhams, Iraq ranked 3rd with certificates of origin reached 1,148, and goods’ value of 197 million, followed by Egypt with 818 certificates, with goods’ value of 194 million dirhams, India with 711 certificates and value of goods with 89 million, followed by Kuwait with 655 certificates and value of goods at 147 million dirhams, Bahrain with 522 certificates and value of goods reached 310 million dirhams, and the rest of the countries which totaled 153 countries from the different continents in the world.
