MOSCOW- The Kremlin said on Thursday that the countries participating in the construction of the undersea Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany are aiming to complete it.

Nord Stream 2 is around 95% complete, but it faces sanctions from the United States, which seeks to cut Europe's reliance on energy supplies from Russia.

The Kremlin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, repeated that the project was very important for European energy security.
