A rare $90 million pink diamond ring weighing 22 carats was sold at Jewellery Arabia 2019 yesterday.

The official Instagram page of the event, jewelleryarabiabahrain, announced the news, declaring it the biggest sale ever in Schreiner’s history.

“We would like to thank Bahrain Jewellery Centre for being part of their pavilion,” said German-based Schreiner Fine Jewellery president Gerhard Schreiner in the post.

An official confirmed to the GDN that the exhibitor had told the organisers that he had reached a deal to sell the ring, and asked that it be removed from the showcase.

“We don’t have any details on the deal or who the buyer is, but it is not someone from Bahrain,” he added.

“The exhibitor asked that we remove it from the showcase saying that he has reached an agreement on its sale.

“We are still waiting for arrangements after removing the ring, which is still in Bahrain.”

Jewellery Arabia 2019 opened on Tuesday and ended yesterday bringing together 561 exhibitors from 36 countries for a dazzling display of finished jewellery, timepieces, precious gems and more.

Luxurious pieces on display included the sold ring, a BD4m pearl necklace, and an exclusive BD135,000 wristwatch with only 50 pieces available around the world.

In its 28th edition, more than 55,000 visitors from Bahrain and the region were expected to have attended.
