FRANKFURT- German gas and oil producer Wintershall Dea on Wednesday said a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Denmark pursued by the company to bring down its fossil fuels footprint can start in 2025.

Chief executive Mario Mehren said the project will be able to move carbon dioxide from natural gas into storage in depleted, subsea hydrocarbon fields, with a capacity of 3.5 million tonnes of CO2 a year.

Projects in the Netherlands also look promising and there are further plans in Norway, he said.
