UAE - Mubasher: A total of 11 startups from different countries have joined the second cohort of the Hub71 incentive programme, according to a press release on Monday.

The selected startups include Bahrain's Tarabut Gateway, a platform connecting regional banks and FinTechs via a universal application programming interface, and the UAE's educational language app Arabee.

The US-based Scanalytics, a global leader in the internet of things (IOT) and sensors, was also among the new startups in the Hub71 incentive programme.

Meanwhile, Hub71 has appointed Hanan Harhara Al Yafei, who was an executive director from Mubadala, as a new CEO.

Launched in March 2019, Abu Dhabi's global tech ecosystem has selected more than 60 startups from different countries to date, with 21% of the startups led by females.

Al Yafei commented: "Though the last few months have been tough for all businesses and SMEs particularly, Hub71 has been a safe space that has proactively helped its startups navigate the difficult market conditions."

Meanwhile, the founder and CEO of Scanalytics, Joe Scanlin, noted: "Using Abu Dhabi as our base, my team and I will take this opportunity to explore new markets in Europe as well as hire tech talent from the top universities in the UAE."
