Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, fell by 5.85% month-on-month (MoM) to 102.72 (initial) in May from 109.10 (final) in April, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The index of manufacturing beverages climbed by 26.48% to 325.56 in May from 257.40 a month earlier with the increased demand in summer, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the index of electric appliances rose by 12.01% MoM to 118.77, compared to 106.04 in April.

On the other hand, the index of uncategorised machinery and equipment declined by 6.87% to 155.25 in May from 166.70 in the prior month due to the drop in exports.

Likewise, the paper manufacturing index retreated by 16.17% MoM to 59.79, compared to 71.32 in April.
