Cairo –  Egypt’s transportation ministry and public-private partnership (PPP) central unit affiliated to the finance ministry will receive technical and financial bids for the construction of the country’s first dry port in the industrial zone in 6th of October City starting from 11 July.

Three consortiums compete to win the contract for establishing this project, the finance ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Spanning on an area of 100 acres, the project will serve ports of Alexandria and Dekheila and the industrial zone in 6th of October city.

The consortiums are an alliance led by India’s Conkor and includes Singapore’s PSA and Hassan Allam Group, an alliance led by the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport and UAE’s DP World, and an alliance led by Elsewedy Electric and includes Shankar Egypt and 3A International.

This dry port will offer all traditional port services, including the completion of customs clearance procedures for incoming and outgoing containers, head of PPP central unit, Atter Hannoura, said.

This step is part of the transport and finance ministries’ plan to establish seven dry ports in industrial zones, he added.
