Cairo –  Egypt has implemented major developmental projects in Sinai in a record time, including roads, bridges, and tunnels which play a major role in the Suez Canal Axis development plan, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Ehab El-Far, said.

On the sidelines of inaugurating several development projects in Sinai by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Tuesday, El-Far revealed that the authority has been assigned the implementation of projects at a cost of EGP 486 billion since 30 June 2014, according to state-run TV.

A total of 276 projects have already been executed at a cost of EGP 198 billion, while 32 projects are planned to be implemented at a cost of EGP 82 billion, El-Far added, noting that work is underway for implementing 110 projects at a cost of EGP 206 billion.

A total of 25 roads have been constructed with total lengths of 1,185 kilometres (km) and another 16 roads with total lengths of 375 km are being built as part of the Sinai Peninsula development project.
