MUSCAT: Seven employees of Mazoon Electricity Company, the leading electricity provider in Oman, participated in the 15th GCC-CIGRE International Conference and 24th Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, GCC Power 2019 Conference and Exhibition held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 27 to 29.

This prestigious event was a platform to learn about the latest developments in the electricity and energy industry. The conference offered an ideal forum for all those concerned with the power sector to discuss challenges facing the power sector in the region. Participants discussed the latest trends, issues, developments and deliberated on strategies to meet the region’s rapidly expanding energy needs through a series of panel and technical sessions.

Seven employees selected from Mazoon Electricity presented findings, insights, and experiences in specific areas of their study through eight papers. Some of the papers presented at the conference included ‘Risk Based Decision Making Strategy: Mazoon Electricity Company Practice’; ‘Mazoon Electricity Demand Forecast Model’; A Comparative Analysis between Overhead Transmission Line and Underground Transmission Line in Oman’; ‘Offshore Wind Potential and Wind Aatlas Over Oman Maritime Zone’; ‘Towards the Development of Sustainable Electricity Systems Barriers, Driving Forces and Policies for Energy Storage in Oman’; ‘Using Concrete Poles and Steel Towers In Distribution Networks 33kV & 11kV – Case Study for MZEC Project and ‘Consumer Centric Smart Grid Resource Allocation using Multi-Criteria Decision Making’.

 The conference brought together researchers, experts, manufacturers, practitioners and customers from all over the world to share and discuss advances and developments in the energy sector. This multidisciplinary global level event provided a chance for the exchange of latest information, the sharing of the research results and the presentation of the new developments in the area. This participation reflects Mazoon Electricity Company's care in encouraging its employees to present their papers at a prestigious platform and attend conferences such as these so they can share their knowledge, update their learning and get acquainted with sector developments.
