Manama Bahrain: The Tender Board, the independent regulator of Bahrain Government procurement activities, opened 104 bids related to 19 tenders for 10 purchasing authorities at the second weekly bid opening session today. The meeting was presided over by the Minister of Housing and Chairman of the Tender Board H.E. Eng. Basim bin Yacob AlHamer.

The opening session included four tenders supported by the Saudi Development Fund. This support comes within the framework of an integrated program to enhance the stability of public finances in Bahrain and balancing government revenues and expenses by 2022 in line with a financial balance program adopted by authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain. HE the Chairman expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the sponsors of these projects, which contribute effectively to the development of the Kingdom of Bahrain in all sectors, and to the implementation of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 by stimulating the local economy.

During the opening session, the Tender Board opened four bids for three tenders and two auctions for the Ministry of Health, including two grants from the Saudi Fund for Development. The first of these was a technical tender for the supply and installation of medical equipment at the kidney dialysis centre in Riffa, which received 6 bids. The second tender for the Ministry of Health was the provision of security guard services for five sites, including Batelco Health Center, the Environment Health Center in Muharraq, Mohammed Bin Jassim Kanoo Health Center, and Sheikh Center Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah Health Center and Hamad Medical Center, with a contract period of 3 years. Bids received for this tender ranged in value from BD 3,009,852 to BD 8,431.500. The Third tender for technical tender for the supply and installation computers at the kidney dialysis centre in Riffa, which received one bid only.

Two further auctions were opened for the Ministry of Health, one of which was to rent a number of cafeterias and spaces for the installation of self-service vending machines at various sites for a period of four years, which received one bids valued at BD 7,200. The second tender was for local companies to rent a space to establish a cafeteria and coffee shop in the new Ministry of Health building in Al Khair Towers, for which 1 bid was received, valued at BD 1,765.

The Ministry of Works and Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (Municipalities Affairs) has requested bids for the appointment of a consultant office for the design and supervision of the sewage treatment plant and associated works of the Sports City and other sanitation and related work for all the specific components of the project, which will also be funded by the Saudi Development Fund. Eight bids were opened for this tender today.

The opening committee also opened one tender for Ministry of Information Affairs for upgrading the Avid Technical Infrastructure for the News Center (Phase 1) for which one bid was received, valued at BD 873,444.910.

Electricity and water authority open two tenders funded by Saudi Development Fund, the first tender is about water transmission facilities for East Hidd, where four bids were received ranging in value between BD 8,731,137.675 and BD 6,466,497.350. The second tender is about Water Transmission Facilities for South Bahrain (Madinat Khalifa), where 5 bids were received ranging in value between BD 17,834,139.002 and BD 11,812,179.225.

As for the procurement of materials and equipment for the Central Stores Department of the Electricity and Water Authority, four tenders were opened. The first tender was for the purchase of smart meters for use by the Electricity Distribution Directorate. Four bids were received for this tender, with bid values ranging between BD 249,993 and BD 180,999, in addition to a second tender for the same party to buy street lighting lamps for use by the Electricity Distribution Directorate, where 12 bids were received ranging in value between BD 1,163,775and BD 578,523.75. A third tender was opened for the purchase of a data recorder for use by the Water Distribution Directorate, where 2 bids were received, the highest financial bid was BD 288,750, and the lowest financial bid was BD 175,000. For the fourth tender for the purchase of electrical connectors for low voltage electrical cables for use by the Electricity Distribution Directorate, 2 bids were received, the highest financial tender amounted to BD 82,068, while the lowest tender value was BD 78,282.75.

As for the education sector, the committee has opened tenders to provide printing, collation, packaging and delivery services for all national examination papers, in addition to all non-confidential documents pertaining to national exams administration at the Quality Education and Training Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain. A total of 3 bids were received, with the highest financial bid being BD 104,671.029, and the lowest bid was BD 95,750.

The opening committee also included two tenders for the Tamkeen Labor Fund. The first tender was for the development of a chatbot software that will be integrated with Tamkeen's basic system to support the digitalization of Tamkeen's services. A total of 21 bids were received. The highest financial bid received was valued at BD 471,880 and the lowest  amounted to BD  18,000. The second tender was to provide travel solutions to all Tamkeen employees by arranging trips, accommodation and other travel related services, where 4 bids were received.

As for the oil sector, the Tender Opening Committee has also opened tenders for Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) for the construction, overhaul and renovation of buildings and infrastructure, in addition to construction works for new buildings in Awali and Jabel areas, and various miscellaneous minor maintenance works. six bids were received; the highest financial bid amounted to BD 13,126,109.55, and the lowest bid amount was BD 2,630,860.687.

Finally, the Tender Board also opened two tenders for the aviation sector. The first tender for the Bahrain Airport Company was to contract with a highly qualified company to undertake the tasks of inspecting and testing or ELCB and ACDS at Bahrain International Airport. A total of 6 bids were received, with the highest bid being BD 84,939.500, while the lowest bid was BD 14,899.400 The second tender was for Gulf Air to provide ground handling services at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Three bids were received.

The tender process was attended by a number of representatives of the bidders and the companies participating in the tenders. All bids submitted for tenders will be subject to technical and financial evaluation and the best and lowest priced bid will be awarded the tender.
