A new addition to the success of Dubai maritime industrial strategy

Dubai, UAE: As a result to the success of Dubai maritime industrial strategy, Kongsberg Maritime recently opened its new headquarters at Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the latest international organization to do so, further underscoring the robust confidence of the global maritime community in Dubai’s competitiveness and attractiveness as one of the most important maritime hubs in the world.

Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA said: “we are proud today to see that the Dubai maritime industrial strategy is gaining momentum and attracting such distinguished maritime manufacturing and services provider as Kongsberg to Dubai. I am confident that this addition will further enhance the quality, excellence, and leading position of Dubai maritime sector on all levels.”

The high-profile opening of the new office was graced by dignitaries headed by Mr. Jens Eikaas, The Ambassador of Norway, to the UAE. During the ceremony, the executives of Kongsberg Maritime took the opportunity to thank the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) for its unwavering support to global maritime activities and its efforts to build an innovation-driven, excellent, and smart maritime community. Kongsberg Maritime stressed that the company’s latest facility is part of its strategy to capitalize on Dubai’s growth opportunities. The emirate is known for its distinct legal and legislative environment, advanced infrastructure, world-class maritime and logistics capabilities, competitive environment, vibrant business, trade, and investment activities, and innovative free zones that are at par with their global counterparts.

DMC officials said Kongsberg Maritime is the latest addition to the list of leading global maritime organizations currently operating in the highly competitive local maritime industry, where substantial growth prospects are available to regional and international investors. DMC welcomed the opening of Kongsberg Maritime’s new Dubai office, saying that such a move bolsters the company’s expansion strategy in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia as the emirate acts as a meeting point between the East and the West.

DMC will provide the necessary support to the company in its endeavor to provide the local and regional maritime clusters with the latest automated warning, control, navigational, and control systems, in line with DMC’s commitment to establish an innovative, sustainable, and technology-driven maritime industry based on the 21st century requirements.

DMC looks forward to continuously assisting international and multinational companies, including Kongsberg Maritime, in their growth strategies. DMC’s knowledge and expertise enable companies operating in its  premises to achieve their goals of building a strong regional presence and directly reaching their target market in the fast-rising and highly competitive Middle East maritime community. As such, ship owners and operators of vessels repair and maintenance shipyards, among others, are able to harness modern technological systems to enhance their operations. This complements DMC’s initiatives to strengthen the local maritime clusters.

Hamed Hassan, Senior Manager of Registration & Licensing, DMCA, said: “DMCA will continuously assist international companies to ensure that they are able to optimize all our quality initiatives, which include the Dubai Maritime Virtual Cluster launched to build an integrated portfolio of maritime services in order to attract foreign investors to the emirate. The international maritime community’s high confidence in Dubai further inspires us to continuously adopt technological innovations, develop integrated logistics programs, invest in infrastructures and human capacity development, and formulate maritime regulations and legislations for better maritime operational management, while observing local and international resolutions and the  highest standards of occupational safety and best environmental practices.
