Manama, Bahrain: The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has announced the start of the new season for the pearl diving activities which depart from the Ras Raya Port in Muharraq.

The pearl diving activities come in line with the national strategy to revitalize the industry and is approved by the Council of Ministers and the Executive Committee chaired by the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with the aim of protecting the marine environment and regulating fishing.

This unique tourist attraction offers residents and tourists the opportunity to experience pearl diving. Participants can choose from a variety of tour packages departing from the Ras Raya Port, and can go on a sea cruise that may take between one to six hours.

Through this initiative, the BTEA aims to revive the pearl diving legacy and further explore the many aspects related to the profession as part of its focus to develop the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“We are delighted to announce the start of the pearl diving activities season, which comes in line with the national strategy to revitalize the pearl industry and supports BTEA’s mandate to develop the tourism sector, further strengthening the Kingdom’s position as an international tourist hub,” said the Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.

Pearl diving trips are organized by licensed diving centers and embark from the Ras Raya Port in Muharraq. Participants can obtain a list of centers authorized to operate pearl diving trips through the website http://pearldiving.bh. The website centralizes relevant information about the pearl diving initiative, giving residents and tourists the opportunity to learn more about this profession and further enhance their overall experience.

Tickets purchased online can be used anytime, while tickets purchased directly from the Ras Raya Port prior to any tour are valid for one day only. A tourist fee of BD5 is applied onto any ticket sold and the price of tour packages are determined by the diving centers.
