Dubai, UAE: Noor Dubai Foundation and Rivoli EyeZone signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to support the foundation’s treatment and preventive programs in aiding those who suffer from visual impairment.

As part of the MoU Rivoli EyeZone donated two machines to Noor Dubai Foundation’s mobile eye clinic to be used for Glaucoma assessment, which was not tested previously in the mobile eye clinic.

The two machines; Non-contact Pulsair tonometer and Humphrey FDT visual field machine, will expand the services offered at the mobile clinics, hence benefiting more people who suffer from visual impairment.

As part of the MoU and in line with the National Day celebrations, Rivoli EyeZone will launch a one-year campaign under the name “Gift a Vision”  in their Dubai stores to raise awareness about Noor Dubai’s treatment and preventive programs. It will also raise funds for the foundation by prompting customers to add AED 5 to their bill once they purchase any items.  

MOU was signed in the by HE Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of Noor Dubai Foundation and Mr. Ramanathan R, COO Lifestyle Division, Rivoli Group in the presence of Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai Foundation.

Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO and Board Member Noor Dubai Foundation, said “Through our award winning outreach program in the UAE, the mobile eye clinic, Noor Dubai Foundation has succeeded in providing free vision screening to over 7000 individuals across various segments society since its launch in 2014. We would like to thank the Rivoli team for their contribution which has allowed us to expand the services provided in the mobile eye clinic, an essential tool in allowing for early detection and intervention to prevent visual impairment.”

Mr. Ramanathan on the other hand said Rivoli EyeZone, which is part of the Rivoli Group, is committed to vision care and eye health through its stores across the region. “As part of this commitment, we are happy to associate ourselves with Noor Dubai Foundation, a Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Global Initiative, which is doing outstanding work across the globe. Noor Dubai is fighting the scourge of loss of eyesight and promoting the effort against preventable blindness especially with underprivileged people, and we look forward to supporting this movement through a number of joint initiatives in the days ahead,” he added.

A major focus area for the mobile eye clinic  over the last 2 years are labour camps and through a successful partnership with the Permanent Committee of Labours Affairs in Dubai, Noor Dubai Foundation was able to screen over 1000 labourers in 12 different sites in 2016.

 In collaboration with DHA, it also launched a vision screening campaign targeting community schools across the UAE given the importance of early intervention on academic performance, with a target of 1000 students to be screened in 2017. Through a successful collaboration with Roads and Transport Authority over the last 2 years, 950 individuals were screened at various RTA bus and metro stops including 600 RTA Bus Drivers in 2016 alone.
