Dubai - UAE - At the Gulf Business Awards 2016, the coveted Banking Business Leader of the Year trophy was bagged by one of the most well-known business men in the UAE and Middle East - His Excellency AbdulAziz Al Ghurair, CEO of the UAE's and Region's leading banking group, Mashreq. 

In its 5th year, the Gulf Business Awards ceremony applauded regional titans of the corporate world, recognising Gulf companies and business leaders across a wide spectrum of economic sectors.

"It's an absolute honour to be recognised as one of the Business leaders of the year," said AbdulAziz Al Ghurair, CEO of Mashreq. "Since my early career, I have set to contribute to the mission of the UAE's banking landscape and to putting together a sound, well-functioning market, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. That being said my vision for our banking sector is manifested through ambitious plans like Vision 2021, in order to elevate the performance of all banks in the UAE and the industry at large."

Al Ghurair continues to play a pivotal role in providing substantial views to the UAE's financial and banking industry.

The Gulf Business awards celebrate a total of 25 awards. The winners are selected through public voting and the judgement of an independent panel including: Ian Fairservice, Motivate managing partner and group editor-in-chief; Neil King, editor of Gulf Business; Ronaldo Mouchawar, CEO and co-founder of Souq.com; Brandy Scott, host of Business Breakfast on Dubai Eye 103.8; and Hisham Farouk, CEO of Grant Thornton UAE.
