Dubai: Dubai based Canadian Specialist Hospital and Al Kuwait Hospital have signed an MoU to share their combined wealth of knowledge with doctors and medical practitioners in the UAE to further raise the industry standards.

As a result of this MoU, both the hospitals will host 4-5 knowledge sharing events through the year that will create an ecosystem to share best practices within the healthcare sector. Both hospitals played host to top cardiologists in the UAE to discuss the ‘Latest Trends in General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology’. Inaugural convention last week attracted 250 medical experts from across the UAE in the field of general and interventional cardiology.

According to experts, people in the Emirates die of heart attack 20 years earlier than the global average. This forum was conceptualized due to this alarming rise in cardiovascular diseases in the country. Furthermore, as per reports cardio-vascular diseases is known to be the leading cause of death in the country. The UAE has all the risk factors for CVD including a high percentage of population which smokes or consumes tobacco, a high percentage prevalence of diabetes and obesity among others.

Vivek V Thigale, Chief Operating Officer, Canadian Specialist Hospital said, “This joint initiative is an important step taken by both the hospitals towards to ensure that the collective intelligence of doctors would help solve such healthcare challenges and stay ahead. This will immensely help the patients in the UAE. We were delighted to see specialists in the field of cardiology and interventional cardiology under one roof discussing the latest trends in their field of study. This was the first of many conferences that we plan to organise in collaboration with Al Kuwait Hospital in the coming year.”

The recent event brought together more than 250 healthcare practitioners from all around the UAE including Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and other MoH hospitals to deliberate and share best practices to tackle the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases.

The MoU was signed between Vivek V Thigale, Chief Operating Officer, Canadian Specialist Hospital and Abdulrazaq Ameri, Director, Al Kuwait Hospital. Also present for the signing included, Abdul Shukoor, CFO, and Anoop Achuthan, Head Business Development from Canadian Specialist Hospital and Dr. Samya Mohammed Al Mulla, Head of Training & Professional Development Department, Moza Nasser Al Shamsi, Head of Customer Happiness Department from Al Kuwait Hospital.
