ABU DHABI- To automate access and fee collection from waste transportation vehicles using the Al Dhafra Landfill, the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre, Tadweer, has installed the Aaber Smart Gate access control system at the facility.

The smart gate will save Tadweer customers time and effort by reducing waiting time at the landfill gates and also prevent human error.

The state-of-the-art technologies, such as the Internet of Things, IoT, number plate recognition cameras and interactive displays ensure that the vehicles move according to the types of waste and vehicle permits.

It also effectively eliminates the need for human intervention and presence among waste collection vehicles, thereby enhancing the health and safety of workers as well as customers.

Dr Salem Al Kaabi, Acting General Manager of Tadweer, said, "This ambitious project is part of Tadweer’s ongoing digital transformation, aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of its services." Tadweer also plans to roll out the smart access control technology across other such facilities, including landfills, waste transfer stations, incinerators and fertiliser plants. Therefore, the Licensing, Tariff and Customer Service Department at Tadweer has replaced the Aaber Pass with e-permits that customers can obtain online.
