A BD7.6 million ($20.1mln) state-of-the-art car park complex with spaces for more than 330 vehicles has been opened in Adliya.

Called The Terminal, the complex is located in Block 338, one of the busiest locations in Manama, and is designed to provide a full-service solution for visitors to the busiest part of Adliya.

The complex, which occupies an area of 4,801 square metres and can house 10 outlets, brings together dining, commercial outlets and convenient smart parking all under one roof.

The first two tenants are a trademark of The Living Concepts Company, Maya Gold, a new elevated concept of Maya la Chocolaterie, and artisanal and organic coffee shop, Dose Cafe.

Through the auto pay machines, visitors will be able to pay the car park fees using cash, debit card, credit card and a mobile app.

Present at the opening were directors of Edamah, the real estate arm of Bahrain government, investors, contractors and prospective tenants.

In the next five years, Edamah aims to develop more than 1,000 car park spaces which will be managed through a centralised smart software aimed at reducing operational costs, increase efficiency and improve customer satisfaction.

“Edamah has an ambitious five-year strategy which will contribute to Bahrain’s plans for robust investment in domestic infrastructure, supporting the national economy by enabling technological integration in architecture,” said Edamah chairman Khalid Al Rumaihi.

“Our future project portfolio will be enhancing existing projects in addition to new projects to be developed which will include industrial, retail, leisure and recreational projects utilising some of the most spectacular waterfront settings available in the kingdom.

“During the last quarter of 2017, the real estate sector grew by 7.6 per cent due to high demand for residential, tourism and retail developments in the kingdom.

“Edamah is seizing the opportunity by responding to this high demand, developing a diversified portfolio of commercially viable projects,” he said.

Edamah’s three-year project pipeline is worth around BD14 million and features developments, such as Sa’ada waterfront development and a multi-storey car park in Salmaniya, amongst others.

“The Adliya car park will benefit many people in the area and is one of the most important things we have been requesting for a long time,” said Capital Trustees Board chairman Mohammed Al Khozaie.

“Carparks like these will help promote tourism in the area because they allow more people access to all the restaurants in the area and has become a necessity to keep up with urbanisation and support the restaurants and their owners.

“Manama needs more of such projects, we have requested them for the old suq area and have asked the government to allow investors to take some of the land to be turned into parking complexes,” he said.
