Sri Lanka’s business delegation headed by Ms. Indira Malwatte, Chairperson and the Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Export Development Board which is Sri Lanka’s apex state organization responsible for the development and promotion of Exports overseas, together with the Secretary Generals of National Chamber of Exporters and National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and other trade related senior Officials visited Al Maya, informed Mr Kamal Vachani, Group Director, Al Maya Group.

During the meeting with the delegation, Mr Kamal Vachani apprised the officials about the business activities of the Group and informed that Al Maya enjoys excellent relations with Sri Lankan companies and are importing large range of FMCG which includes Rice, Spices, Pickles, Coconut Milk Powder, Snacks, Coffee, Noodles, etc.  They have also discussed the possibilities of expanding products of Sri Lanka through Al Maya, added Mr Vachani.

Ms. Indira Malwatte, Chairperson & Chief Executive of Sri Lanka Export Development Board stated that the Sri Lanka Delegation is pleased to meet with Mr Kamal Vachani, Group Director, Al Maya Group and his team during her visit to Al Maya Group Office.  Sri Lanka considers Al Maya Group as an important partner of Sri Lanka in terms of its exports which promoted under “Island of Ingenuity” tagline and further potential.  She further added that under the National Exports Strategy, Sri Lanka is focusing on expanding exports in Spices and Concentrates, Food and Beverages sectors which are directly connected to the business of Al Maya Group.  The Chairperson invited a delegation from Al Maya Company to visit Sri Lanka to further explore the possibilities of business expansion with Sri Lankans exporters. The Chairperson further briefed that the Sri Lankan delegation comprises of Private and Public sectors and highlighted that the presence of National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and National Chamber of Exporters as a part of this delegation is a reflection of Sri Lanka’s  keen interest to work with Al Maya Group

Mr Charitha Yattogoda, Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates also joined the meeting with accompanying visiting Sri Lankan delegation.

Mr Kamal Vachani, Group Director of Al Maya Group welcomed and informed Consul General and delegation that our team regularly visits Sri Lanka for sourcing new product range from time to time.
