RiyadhTrade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Egypt amounted to SAR 27.4 billion ($7.3 billion) in 2017, after the kingdom's exports hit SAR 18.9 billion, compared to SAR 13.9 billion in the year before, General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) data revealed.

Egypt acquired about 2% of Saudi exports in 2017, the state-run statistics agency added.

The GCC nation’s imports from Egypt reached SAR 8.5 billion in 2017, compared to SAR 7.9 billion during 2016.

Metal products ranked first in Saudi exports to the North African country with SAR 13.6 billion, followed by plastic and its industries came second with SAR 2.7 billion, paper and paperboard with SAR 274 million, and iron and steel with SAR 216 million.

On a related note, Egyptian exports to Saudi Arabia include metal products at a value of SAR 1.4 billion, followed by electrical equipment, parts and components with SAR 653 million.

Egypt also exported fruit to the oil-rich country at SAR 650 million and vegetables at a value of SAR 609 million.

Saud Arabia's imports from the North African nation registered SAR 504.4 billion in the previous year, against exports at SAR 799.5 billion.
