Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), the official operator of ground services at the kingdom's airport, has witnessed a steady growth in the number of young employees in the company which has now reached 803, said a top official.

BAS strategy emphasizes the importance of investing in national cadres, especially youth, in the belief that the company's management is capable of assuming responsibilities and developing work, stated CEO Salman Al Mahmeed, while speaking at a cermony hosted to mark International Youth Day.

Al Mahmeed, while lauding the BAS staff for their continuous efforts to improve productivity and quality of work, said the company was taking efforts to make them qualified to reach the managerial and leadership positions in the company, especially with the national functional substitution plan, through which the company seeks to reach the young Bahraini leadership positions through a training plan and practical study.

Manager of Learning and Training, Khalid Al Bastaki, said that during the past year, BAS launched the national functional substitution plan, which started through the Development Management Programme.

A 55-strong Bahraini youth team participated in the programme in co-operation with the Institute of Leadership and Management in UK, commensurate with international standards and developments in the business world.

A leading player in the region, BAS offers a number of commercial activities including: aircraft and passenger handling, catering and aircraft engineering services, besides operating the BAS Engineering Training Center as well as owning and managing airport lounges.-TradeArabia News Service
