UAE - Al Naboodah Group Enterprises (ANGE), one of the UAE’s oldest and most respected family conglomerates with a diverse portfolio of businesses, is entering the solar energy space with the launch of its newest business stream, under Al Naboodah Electrics.

As a renewable energy solutions provider, Al Naboodah Electrics recently entered into an exclusive partnership with Jakson Group, a leading Indian energy and engineering solutions company with presence in the powergen and distribution, solar, EPC and defence industries, said a statement.

The business will distribute Jakson’s portfolio of superior solar products, including solar panels, in the UAE market. An official signing ceremony took place between the two organisations alongside the recent World Future Energy Summit held in Abu Dhabi, at which Al Naboodah Electrics also had a display showcasing its renewable energy technologies, it said.

Al Naboodah Electrics, which sits under ANGE’s electrical business, is aligned with the group’s overall strategy for diversification and sustainable growth. Already established as a supplier of eco-friendly products with Lumez, its own brand of energy-efficient LED lighting, the new business venture also supports the UAE government’s Energy Plan, which aims to increase clean energy use by 50 per cent by 2050.

Buti Al Naboodah, deputy CEO, commercial for ANGE, said: “The investment into renewable energy is a testament to Al Naboodah Group Enterprises’ commitment to creating a sustainable future.”

“The launch of this business is a strategic move that fulfils our sustainability ambitions while aligning ourselves more closely with the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Energy Plan,” he said.

Al Naboodah Electrics is unique in its ability to offer a 360-degree solution for solar project development and delivery, from the initial energy consumption and financial analysis through to equipment selection and construction phase engineering, and post-installation operations and management.

This core competency of in-house EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) capacity is aligned with ANGE’s approach of self-delivery and self-supply, lending more overall control to the build, schedule and cost of projects.

Krishna Pillai, general manager of Al Naboodah Electrical, said: “Our strategic partnership with Jakson Group, a proven leader in solar products manufacturing, is another step forward in our vision to provide a superior service.”

“Offering a full portfolio of renewable energy solutions, our company aims to help customers meet their energy demands while reducing their overall environmental impact. With Al Naboodah Group Enterprises’ considerable experience in engineering, procurement and construction, we’re able to deliver low-cost energy while maximising financial returns for our customer’s renewable energy projects,” he added.

One of Al Naboodah Electrics’ first solar panel projects is the optimisation of ANGE’s own assets, which includes the ANGE Corporate Headquarters in Al Awir. Phase one of the rooftop project will see up to 25 per cent of energy demands met through solar energy, with additional phases to follow.

Sundeep Gupta, vice chairman and managing director, Jakson Group, said: “The UAE is in a prime position to harness the abundant energy of the sun, and partnering with Al Naboodah Group Enterprises leverages the expertise of two leading companies in their respective fields.”

“With Al Naboodah Electrics, our solar panels can be customised to support the energy strategies for a wide audience across the public and private sectors. We also have a wide range of renewable energy products and solutions for various applications,” he said.

Praveen Pai, director, solar, EPC and defence business, Jakson Group, said: “This partnership is a win-win combination for both the organisations. Our expertise in solar and Al-Naboodah’s understanding of the local market offers us a unique competitive edge in the market.”

An early mover in the solar power segment, Jakson Group, headquartered in India, also has operations in Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore and several countries in Africa. Jakson Group has an integrated solar portfolio generation, EPC and manufacturing business and they are considered to be one of the leading manufacturing and solar EPC companies in India.
