Roka, a leading restaurant group, is set to open its doors in Saudi Arabia on July 27 bringing to capital Riyadh, its award-winning robatayaki concept and unique style of contemporary Japanese cooking.

The launch is in partnership with Azumi, a global restaurant business with established brands offering contemporary dining in key cosmopolitan locations, and MJS (Mohammed Jawa) Holding, to expand the Azumi brands into the kingdom.

Created by Rainer Becker, and co-founded with Arjun Waney, Azumis journey began with the opening of Zuma London in 2002, followed by Roka London in 2004. In addition to the Zuma and Roka Japanese concepts, Oblix opened in The Shard in 2013.

With design elements taken from the iconic London venues in Mayfair and Charlotte Street, a striking industrial chic style, said the statement from Azumi.

The restaurant is located on the new Tahlia Gate, a 5629 sq-ft venue which seats 161 diners inside with an additional 82 covers on the urban oasis terrace.

The new venue is the brainchild of co-founder and creator Rainer Becker, and the brands second international opening following the successful launch of Roka Dubai, said the statement.

The robata grill is at the heart of its award-winning menu, a traditional Japanese cooking method inspired by fishermen cooking fish over charcoal on the boats of Northern coastal water off Japan, it added.
