Muscat: Restaurants and cafes should serve meals and drinks in one-time use utensils and cups, the Muscat Municipality said in health conditions.

On Tuesday, restaurants started receiving customers after five months of closure with strict precautionary measures issued by the concerned authorities.

The municipality said in the list of health conditions, "Restaurants and cafes can provide various services except for shisha, and they must not exceed four people at one table."

It is forbidden to use self-service tables and open buffet. The municipality added, "Food, drinks, pepper and salt must be served in disposable one-time use utensils.

Providing hand sanitizers for workers and customers is necessary and increasing the number of times of cleaning the place, with documenting the time of sanitizing operations in a special record and mentioning the name of the material used.

The municipality added to the list of conditions, "Customers must adhere to wearing masks at all times, except for eating time, adhere to a physical distance of two meters, not move around much inside the restaurant, and commit to leaving the place immediately after receiving the service."

The municipality also asks the customers to inform the concerned authorities in the event that the basic preventive conditions are not met in the restaurant or that its workers do not comply.

The list of preventive measures also included checking the temperature of workers and customers before entering the shop and not allowing those whose temperature exceeds 37, the employees ’obligation to wear protective clothing and masks, and the setting up of a special record to record customer data and the time periods for their entry and exit.
