Dubai: Ras Al Khaimah Wastewater Agency (RAKWA) recently announced that they partnered with Intertec Systems as part of the digital transformation roadmap. The announcement was made during WETEX hosted in Dubai this month by Ras Al Khaimah Public Services Department (PSD).

The partnership thrives to improve operational efficiencies and improve predictive maintenance of their O&M assets. RAK PSD would leverage deep capabilities of Intertec in Infor EAM, IIoT and other technologies in due course. The first phase with Infor EAM provides tools to assess, manage and optimize their industrial assets and maintenance processes using Industry 4.0 best practices.

In a ceremony hosted during WETEX, Eng. Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director General, RAK Public Services Department mentioned, “We have taken great steps towards the development and modernization of wastewater systems in RAK during the last 2 years. We are committed to improve people’s quality of life in the Emirate with advanced technologies. In the journey, we will embrace digital transformation to enable rapid development.”

Walid Abdelahman, Head of operation and Maintenance at RAKWA said, “Our existing semi-manual processes don’t permit to monitor asset performance, and therefore increases the risk of breakdown. The implementation of smart enterprise asset management system enabled us to automate and integrate all our operations. By implementing the Industry 4.0 best practice with the help of Intertec, we are able to do our job more efficiently. It enables us to track each equipment and its performance in real time, and take proactive corrective actions before failure. This leads to improvement in our service quality and cost effectiveness. Frankly, my life has become much easier now as it gives me whole new level of insights about the plant, warehouse, equipment, operational cost, etc.”

About RAKWA:

RAK Wastewater Agency (RAKWA) is one of four agencies forms the Public Service Department and it is the RAK Government Arm in management of the public wastewater systems and regulating wastewater activities in the Emirate.

RAKWA is responsible for the construction and management of wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure, monitoring the Trade effluent of commercial and industrial activities and regulating private wastewater systems,. In addition, RAKWA responsible for managing the reuse of treated wastewater as part of its strategical objective towards enhancing the sustainability.

RAKWA currently manages the operation and maintenance activities of four sewage treatment plants that treat 12 million cubic meters of wastewater annually. It also manages 330 km of networks and 13 lifting stations across the Emirate.
