Passenger traffic grew 26% in June in comparison with the same period last year, Tunisair Friday said in a press release. The number of passengers went up from 200, 217 to 252, 356.

Scheduled international traffic rose 11.9% with 209,104 passengers up from 186, 944, the national carrier indicated. Additional traffic saw passenger numbers go up from 699 last year to 1,134 in June 2017.

Tunisair also reported a rise in its charter activity as the number of travellers climbed from 12, 574 to 42,118 as a result of touristic traffic resuming. The passenger load factor was up 4.5 points and reached 65% last June.

European countries have the lion's share in scheduled traffic with 73.9 %, that is a 12.7 % rise. African countries, with 12.8 % of the passenger transport market, registered a 9.5% rise. Similarly, a 3.4 % increase was reported for Middle East countries which market share was established at 11.8 %.

North America (Montreal) had a total traffic of 3,154 passengers in June.
