PROJECTS: Saudi Arabia's National Water Company issues third O&M tender

Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) has invited local and international pre-qualified consortia to bid for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) tender of the Eastern Cluster.

 

The O&M tender, NWC’s third involving the private sector, is for management of water and sanitary drainage infrastructure for all the cities and governorates of the Eastern Region, a statement from NWC said.  

 

“The winning consortium of the Eastern Cluster contract will supervise the development, management, operation, and maintenance of water and sanitary drainage systems, management and development of customer services, bill collection, leakage reduction, training, qualifying and developing current staff, and upgrading the performance of the water and sewage drainage sectors in the Eastern Cluster (Eastern Region), which amounts to more than 12 cities, governorates and centres,” the NWC statement said.

 

The company expects to begin receiving the tenders by June, it said in a press statement on its website.

 

NWC had tendered the second O&M management contract for the Central Region in December with a submission deadline of early April 2021.  

 

The first O&M management contract for Northwestern Cluster, which comprises the regions of Madinah and Tabuk, was awarded in December 2020 to a Saudi-French-Philippine consortium [Miahona-Saur-Manila Water] at a cost of more than 198 million Saudi Riyals ($52.5 million) for a period of seven years.
