Kuwait intends to issue tenders for two renewable power projects to provide electricity to two gas bottling plants, a local newspaper reported on Monday.

The projects are part of 77 contracts that will be issued during fiscal year 2020-2021 by the Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC), the transport arm of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, which manages the OPEC member's massive oil industry.

The new plants will provide electricity to KOTC's two gas bottling factories in the Southern port of Shuaiba and Umm Al-Aish in North Kuwait, the Arabic language daily Alanba said, quoting responsible sources.

"The projects will employ renewable energy and will allow KOTC to stop relying on expensive power generators," the report said without providing project details.

Another tender involves providing maintenance and operation services at some KOTC facilities, it added.
