Muscat International Airport received the first all-economy flights of Jordan Aviation coming from Queen Alia International Airport on Monday.

The airline will operate two weekly flights between Muscat and Amman on Monday and Friday.

"This comes as a culmination of Oman Airports efforts to attract the new airlines towards the airports in the Sultanate to reinforce the direct international air traffic between the Sultanate and the world, and the constant support provided for these efforts by the relevant authorities in the Sultanate. Also, the operation of the flights from Jordan to Muscat International Airport comes at a time of increasing demand for travel between the two countries. The new airline will also serve trade operations and the movement of businessmen, students, and tourists of both countries," a statement said.

Muscat International Airport has recently accomplished a new global achievement by obtaining the Airport Council International (ACI) Airport Health Accreditation to be the first airport in the Middle East to achieve this international classification. It was adopted lately by ACI to regulate health standards in the world’s airports due to the impact of the global pandemic Covid-19 on the sector. This is proof that the precautionary measures applied in Muscat International Airport are consistent with the best certified international standards and an indicator of Oman Airports' adherence to applying health and safety procedures according to the highest international levels.

Jordan Aviation is the first aviation company fully owned by the private sector in Jordan nationwide and the Middle East. It was established in 1998 and today it operates twelve aircraft of different variants on its expanding network; as it is about to introduce new aircraft to increase the flights and operations in new terminals. The company took into consideration the adherence to all general safety procedures, especially concerning the epidemiological situation of Covid-19; as it vaccinated all working staff against Covid-19 in order to maintain the health and safety of the staff and passengers and ensure the safety of all.
