Mayasem inks deal to develop Bahrain's first educational park

Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), the property arm of the Kingdom's sovereign wealth fund, recently signed a lease and development agreement with Mayasem Holding to develop and operate an educational park in Isa Town’s education district.

 

Spread across 16,293 sq m, the Educational Park is a first of its kind in the kingdom, boasting a state-of-the-art design and offering a unique learning experience to students, said the statement from Edamah.

 

A gated facility designed with all the necessary security measures, it will be fully equipped with hitech education centres and halls which will be leased to schools and institutions enabling them to conduct lectures, workshops, hands on training programs, as well as theatre and art production classes, it added.

 

Mayasem won the tender which was conducted under the supervision of the Bahrain Tender Board.

 

Realizing there was an absence of a project of this nature in the kingdom, Mayasem envisioned a pioneering educational park to serve as a one-stop-shop facility that offers children, adults, entrepreneurs with specialised educational programs and training in an eco-friendly and creative learning environment, stated Amin Alarrayed, the CEO of Edamah and Founder of Mayasem Holding, after signing the deal with Dr Shaikha May bint Sulaiman Al Otaibi, CEO and Founder of Mayasem Holding.

 

The Park aims to add value to the kingdom’s education industry by elevating the quality of education and supporting creative Bahraini entrepreneurs in developing and unlocking their potential by equipping them with the required tools and training to enable them to establish their own business firms in the future, he stated.

 

To avoid interfering with the students’ school or university curriculum, the Park will serve students after study hours and will promote a family-oriented program by involving the students’ parents in the learning process.

 

In addition to offering the core subjects, the Park seeks to collaborate with educational centres to offer specialized courses; in diverse areas of study ranging from special needs education to liberal arts and Robotics to name a few, he added.

 

Dr Al Otaibi said: "Our educational experience spans more than 30 years of leading The Bahrain Bayan School towards achieving its vision and mission."

 

"We have also succeeded in providing fully equipped spaces and training for entrepreneurs through Mayasem’s +973 Artisinat project located in Juffair which identified the gap and demand for specialised qualified educational support units, training centres, after school activities, all under one roof," she stated.

 

On the deal, Alarrayed said: “We look forward to working with Mayasem on this significant project which will emerge as a leading educational landmark and provide surrounding institutions and the public the opportunity to benefit from state-of-the-art facilities."

 

"This engagement comes as part of our strategy to form additional partnerships with the private sector that add value to key economic sectors of the economy of which education is key" he noted.

 

Alarrayed said Edamah has conducted an in-depth field study which was circulated to the private and public schools across Bahrain, taking into account the needs of the institutions from the perspective of the students and families themselves.

 

"This has assisted in identifying the unique elements required for the development in order to fill the gaps in the existing market. This project therefore combines a blend of commercial and educational units, which will add significant value to the Kingdom of Bahrain and educational sector,” he added.

 

In addition to its specialised programme which holistically enhance the existing curriculum, the Park boasts a unique blend of commercial units and educational entities by featuring common community spaces for the entire family with complimentary retail and F&B units, said the statement.

 

The Educational Park is expected to emerge as a landmark development and add significant value to Bahrain’s educational sector by creating a vibrant atmosphere conductive to learning in an all-inclusive urban space for the community at large, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
