Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The third Mai Dubai City Half Marathon (MDCHM) is all set for a thrilling return on October 15, 2021, Friday, providing long-distance runners and fitness enthusiasts with a chance to compete in the classic 5km, a flat-and-fast 10km, and the ultimate 21-km challenge around Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

To ensure a safe race experience and successful hosting of the marathon endorsed by the Dubai Sports Council, organizers announced major COVID-19-related requirements and protocols to be observed before, during and after the event.

The Mai Dubai City Half Marathon is open to participants aged 16 and above. Interested individuals, however, are required to have completed their COVID-19 vaccines before they can participate. Enhanced sterilization and cleaning of all key areas and high-touch surfaces will also be implemented, as well as staggered race start times to ensure the safe management of all runners.

Alexander van ‘t Riet, CEO, Mai Dubai, said: “Now in its third year, the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon is returning to provide our running community in the UAE and all those who embrace healthy living with the best and safest outdoor event yet. During the marathon’s inaugural in 2019, more than 2,500 male and female runners had registered in different categories. We are confident of high turnout this year, with an expectation of surpassing our previous record in terms of the number of participants. Our confidence is rooted in the fact that more and more individuals today are continuously stepping up their efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle.”

Similar to the previous editions, the race route will start and finish in front of the Gate Building. The runners will loop around the picturesque district of one of the Emirate’s fastest growing and most desirable lifestyle destinations, DIFC, allowing them to have breathtaking views of the city’s well-known architectural marvels.

Shaun Ollier of Promoseven Sports Marketing said, “As the organizers of the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon, we extend our appreciation to Mai Dubai for their continued patronage as the title partner for this marquee event for the third year in succession, which reflects their commitment and support to spreading awareness on the importance of healthy hydration. We are thrilled and excited for Mai Dubai’s efforts to making this an event not to be missed in the Dubai sports calendar and keeping all runners hydrated as ‘water is life’. 2020-21 has been a remarkably difficult time for everyone and the MDCHM is the perfect opportunity to do two things - challenge ourselves and have fun doing it within our community. Staying active is vital for our physical and mental well-being and we hope that people of all levels of fitness and running experience will join us for what promises to be a fun and energetic morning.”

The Mai Dubai City Half Marathon is taking place in partnership with Mai Dubai as title and hydration partner; DIFC, official venue partner; parachute.ae, official e-commerce partner; and Al Laith, official logistics partner. Official technology partner New Balance will be launching their #seizetheday running campaign through the lens of the MDCHM, in collaboration with official performance partner Upandrunning; official sunprotection partner La-Roche-Posay; Fitness First, official fitness partner; Crimson educational, official student education partner, and Audio UAE, official audio partner.
