(TAP) - Subsidiary of Greek industrial group "MYTILINEOS S.A." for the construction of major projects, METKA EGN has signed a "turnkey" contract with ENI Tunisia BV for the engineering, procurement and construction of an innovative hybrid power generation system in the ADAM oil concession located in the Tataouine governorate (southern Tunisia).

The project includes the installation of 5 MW of solar energy as well as an energy storage system with batteries integrated into existing gas turbines for off-grid installation, METKA EGN has indicated on its website.

The energy produced will be consumed on site, allowing upstream operations to significantly reduce gas consumption and thus avoid the equivalent of 6,500 tonnes/year of CO2 emissions, the company adds.

This is the first collaboration between METKA EGN and ENI, which, according to the same source, is adopting an approach to decarbonise its activities by introducing renewable energies in the countries where it operates throughout the world.
