Dubai World Congress for Self Driving  Transport  held on October 15th and 16th in Dubai by Roads and Transport Authority hosted exemplary speakers which included Noah Zych, Chief of Uber Advanced Technologies Group (UATG). Mr. Zych while sharing insights on what it means to develop self -driving technology at scale at Uber and how Advance Technologies Group is bringing the vision to life emphasized that Self-Driving technology is a critical enabler.

“We believe that people need to be  encouraged to overcome cultural barriers to use car pooling  or share rides which not only will help reduce green house gases and save space. However, this becomes much more easier if the technology used to share rides is simple and accessible. Safety is not a luxury. In Uber we invest in advanced technologies that are smart, affordable and look at combining smart sustainable technology in a shared network setting so that we can see the true benefits of technology’, said Mr.Zych.

‘Self-driving technology can make transport safe, cost efficient, improve space efficiency in a city. We do not want to be car manufacturers but partner with manufacturers to unlock the potential of self-driving and integrate it into the Uber network.  We look at regulators being collaborators  and earning our customer’s trust. Collborations will help emerging technologies mature  and at congresses like this one it is great to see ideas and initiatives that seem promising in the future’, he concluded.
