Abu Dhabi-UAE:– Food Security Center – Abu Dhabi (FSCAD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Agthia Group on the final day of the second edition of Agriscape, the international exhibition dedicated to agricultural investments abroad, to enhance collaboration in all areas that strengthen national food security in the UAE.

Serving as a framework of understanding between the two sides, the MoU will leverage the partnership between FSCAD and Agthia Group towards achieving the shared goals of national food security, while reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for food security and sustainable agricultural development.

Under the MoU, both entities will collaborate to ensure the provision of subsidised food supplies to Emiratis living in the emirate of Abu Dhabi through various Agthia outlets.

His Excellency Khalifa Al Ali, CEO of the Food Security Center Abu Dhabi (FSCAD), said: "The signing of this MoU with Agthia Group is aligned with our priority to support food security and achieve social welfare. As a key member of the Abu Dhabi Food Security Alliance, the MoU with Agthia will consolidate our efforts to achieve the goals and future vision of the emirate in the food security domain.”

Tariq Ahmed Al Wahedi, Chief Executive Officer of Agthia, said: "Our latest partnership with FSCAD reiterates our strong commitment to supporting the government’s plans to achieve food security in the UAE.”

The MoUs signed during Agriscape 2018 are in line with the event’s objective of enhancing national food security, a top priority of the national development agenda. Furthermore, they highlight the UAE’s pioneering status in leveraging promising investment opportunities in agribusiness to ensure the sustainability of food supply under all circumstances.

Agriscape 2018, that concluded today at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, drew the participation of 53 exhibitors associated with agri-land and other agri-assets in more than 50 countries. The exhibition also attracted 300 investors including 100 hosted buyers from all over the world.
